Visual Communication

Visual communication is an important part or our everyday lives. Just think about all the texts you read, or the body language used in conversations. We are all constantly confronted with visual communication.

The display of images is another  form of visual communication. Advertisers frequently play with images, in order to make their message come accross more effectively. A good example of this is a series of print ads by Heineken. The advertisers have manipulated the image of a ketchup bottle in such a way that it looks like a tomato. This is a very strong way to communicate the message that there is a lot of tomato in Heinz ketchup.

To find out more about this interesting topic, I visited Dr. Schilperoord at Tilburg University. He explained to me another way of playing with images, called Symmetric Object Alignment. Below you will find a short video of our conversation.
